Bath, Blow Dry, and Brush Out

For short-coated and under-coated dogs, a warm bath with deep penetrating fingertip massage is done to loosen excess hair. Many dogs, especially those with heavy coats, will receive two baths. The first bath begins the process of cleansing and loosens dead hair, and the second completes the process and brings out the full shine and beauty of the coat. Bathing is followed with a conditioning rinse. Dogs are then towel dried, sprayed with a leave-on conditioner, and blown dry by hand. This process removes all the dead, unwanted hair without causing the skin irritation that often results from excessive brushing.

Finishing touches appropriate to the breed/coat round out this phase of the grooming. Haircuts are personalized based on the appointment consultation. Picturs are welcome! AKC Breed Standard cuts, puppy cuts, and kennel clips are all scissor finished.

Pad Massage

We offer a soothing and conditioning pad massage along with nail trim and file. The hair is cleaned and shaved from in between the pads. Nail color is optional.

Ear Flush and Massage

With the ear flush and massage, a soothing, natural cleanser fills the ear canal while the entire ear is massaged to loosen any debris. This method of ear cleaning prevents the irritation often caused by inserting cotton swabs or fingers into the ear to loosen wax build-up (a process that also often pushes excess wax farther into the ear canal!). After the wax has been removed through a series of flushes and massage, any unwanted hair is removed and then the ears are gently dried and packed with cotten. This stops any unwanted moisture from collecting and keeps the sensitive skin of the ears from being irritated during blow drying. We avoid all cleaning solutions containing alcohol or other harsh irritants.

Cleaning of the Eye Area

Eyes are cleaned with a mild solution, and tear ducts are stimulated. When desired, cleaning will be followed by trimming of hair around the eyes. This depends on breed and personal preference.

Genitals and Anal Glands

Genital area will be shaved upon request. They type and degree of shaving depends on breed, style of cut, maintenance, and a number of other factors. Anal glands will be expressed as long as the dog does not show extreme discomfort and the groomer does not see anything to contraindicate this process such as signs of infection or impaction.
